Discovering Reunion Island

An intense island!

Reunion Island is the perfect place to combine leisure activities with language learning! The volcanic island is a hiker’s paradise with magnificent mountains such as Le Piton des Neiges (3071 m), or Le Piton de la Fournaise (2632 m). It is one of the most active in the world. For this reason, Reunion island is also nicknamed the “Hawaii of the Indian Ocean”. Around 40% of the island has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2010, and offers over 1,000km of hiking trails. The ideal place for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts!

Beach lovers won’t be disappointed either: white or black sandy beaches, turquoise lagoons, marvellous spots for diving and snorkelling – a real pleasure to relax and enjoy unforgettable moments.

After the French lessons, which take place mainly in the mornings, you’ll have the rest of the day and weekends to practise your new language skills and explore the diversity of the island.

Beach or mountain?

Reunion island offers you a magnificent natural setting, with its azure-blue lagoons, towering waterfalls and impressive tropical forests.

Reunion Island has unique coral reefs and is a diving paradise. Swim with dolphins or go out to sea to meet humpback whales, sea turtles and colourful fish in the lagoons.

Piton de la Fournaise is one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Famous for its spectacular eruptions, the volcano is a major study site for volcanologists and a popular attraction for tourists.

Piton des Neiges is an extinct volcano, the highest point on the island of Réunion at 3071 meters, offering exceptional panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and the surrounding landscape. It is considered to be the cradle of the island and a popular spot for hikers in search of unspoilt nature and breathtaking views.

The island is also known for its colourful Creole markets. Every Friday and Saturday morning, Saint Paul hosts the largest market on the island, just a short walk from our school.
